Dermal Filler

Would you like to look 10 years younger in just 10 minutes?

If you would like to reverse the signs of ageing and smooth out wrinkles in your face then dermal filler could be the perfect solution for you! As we age, the levels of collagen and elastin in our skin decreases as cells lose their ability to produce more of their youthful components, and so the skin becomes drier, thinner and less able to fix itself. When we are born we have plentiful amounts of hyaluronic acid in our body, but as we get older this naturally occurring substance is reduced, leaving the skin less well supported and so lines and wrinkles develop. Dermal Fillers are composed of hyaluronic acid, and are an excellent way to naturally reverse the signs of ageing by simply replenishing levels of this naturally occurring product.

We do not have nurse practitioners carrying out treatments at our clinic.

How does this treatment work?

Dermal Fillers such as Juvederm and Restylane smooth out folds and wrinkles in the face, by adding volume, and can make an enormous difference to a person’s appearance giving them a more youthful look. This treatment involves injecting product into the lines on the face through a tiny needle. Small amounts of Juvederm or Restylane are injected at the base of the wrinkle, and the injected material will give natural volume under the wrinkle, which is then lifted up and smoothed out. The aesthetic outcome of this treatment is seen immediately, and treatments are fast, safe and leave no scars. At DermaDental FACE we use dental freeze to completely numb the area before treatment so that you can be guaranteed a 100% pain free treatment. Many of our clients make lunch time appointments and return to work after their treatment.

How much does this anti ageing treatment cost?

The cost of this treatment depends on which product is used, and how many areas are treated. This will be discussed during your consultation before treatment to give you an exact cost. Typically you could expect to pay from €400 if treatment is carried out by a specially trained facial aesthetic dentist or doctor. There are cheaper unapproved inferior products on the market, but at our clinic we only use the safest gold standard approved products. In addition it may possible to get cheaper treatments with persons not registered on the Irish Dental or Irish Medical Council who carry out these treatments illegally in non clinical and non sterile environments.

At DermaDental FACE Clinic do you use Emla topical anaesthetic cream or dental block?

We do not favour the use of Emla topical cream in an attempt to numb the area. We have found that patients do not wish to sit in a waiting room for up to one hour, with cream on the area to be treated prior to treatment. This cream does not work as effectively as DermaDentalGentle dental freeze. At our clinic even the dental block does not hurt because we pride ourselves on delivering pain free facial aesthetic and dental treatments. We do not carry out any dermal of lip filler treatments without using dental freeze. At DermaDental FACE  we simply don’t do pain!

How long does the treatment take?

The treatment takes about twenty minutes but depends on the number of tubes of product being used. At our clinic we always use DermaDentalGentle dental freeze to ensure a completely pain free treatment and this dental block is gently administered before treatment by one of our facial aesthetic dentists.

How long does the treatment last?

This depends on which product is used; normally treatment lasts 6-9 months. Your clinician will discuss this with you at your consultation.

Is this treatment safe?

At our clinic we use only the safest gold standard products which have an extremely low incidence of allergic reaction. In addition we do not have nurse practitioners carry out these treatments. Only our highly trained facial aesthetic dentists and doctors perform these treatments. These treatments are non surgical and are far safer than undergoing traditional plastic surgery.

Are Dermal Fillers replacing plastic surgery?

cosmetic surgery clinicHistorically facial rejuvenation has been achieved with a surgical face-lift under general anaesthetic within an operating theatre. Nowadays these non intrusive procedures can rejuvenate the face, without the associated risk or huge costs involved in face lift surgery. At DermaDental FACE we offer a full range of aesthetic treatments such Anti Wrinkle Injections, Chemical Peel, Lip Filler and Dermal Filler. We use a wide range of products including Radiesse, Evolence, Teosyal and Teosyal kiss. We also offer Sculptra, Restylane, Restylane Lipp, Restylane Touch, Restylane Vital and Restylane Sub Q. In addition we also offer our patients the Allergan range of dermal fillers, which includes products such as Juvederm Ultra Grade 2, Juvederm Ultra Grade 3 and Juvederm Ultra Grade 4 which contain local anesthetic, thus minimizing down time and maximizing patient comfort. Within our Derma department we also stock some of the most advanced medical skin care regimes on the market today.

Which part of the face is most suitable for treatment?

Normally fillers are used to rejuvenate the lower part of the face; around the mouth and in the lips. These products are also used in the mid-facial area for cheek re-contouring. Anti Wrinkle Injections are used in the upper part of the face. On occasion if lines on the forehead are very stubborn they can be treated first with Anti Wrinkle Injections to relax the muscles, and then 2 weeks later with fillers to lift any remaining wrinkles. However, most patients get a great result in the upper part of the face, with Anti Wrinkle Injections alone.

How do we get wrinkles in the lower part of our face?

There are two different types of wrinkles; dynamic wrinkles and static wrinkles. Static wrinkles are those caused by a combination of gravity and loss of skin elasticity, and are typically located in the lower third of the face near to the mouth. Examples are Nasolabial Folds (lines from nose to outer corner of the lips), Marionette Lines (lines from corner of the lips to chin) and superficial wrinkles on the cheek. These wrinkles in the lower part of the face are best treated with Dermal Fillers. The reason we get lines on our face is because as we age the elastin and collagen levels in our skin reduce throughout our lifetime. This can be particularly noticeable in the face.

My mouth is very downturned at the corners, is there anything I can do for this?

Our mouth and lips can also be restored to a more youthful appearance using fillers. A downturned mouth can really add years to a person, and by using dermal filler it is easy to turn that frown upside down creating a happy upturned and more youthful mouth.

Do you recommend Restylane or Juvederm?

At DermaDental we use both of these products as all our patients have individual needs and desired looks that they wish to achieve. During your consultation at our clinic one of our highly experienced clinicians will advise you which product will best suit your needs and your requirements.

Juvederm box

What is Juvederm used for?

Juvederm is ideal for enhancing and volumising lips. Also for treating facial lines and wrinkles. Deep folds and cheeks can also be treated using Juvederm. No patch test is needed as this product is made from hyaluronic acid which is present naturally in the body. Treatment with these products can delay or completely negate the need for plastic surgery, namely a face lift later on in life.

What is Restylane?

Restylane is a brand of dermal filler, and is ideal for maintaining a natural look while enhancing your appearance. Restylane is not an anti wrinkle cream nor is it a form of plastic surgery. There is no need for a patch test prior to treatment because this product is made from a product already found naturally in the body.

Can I get an allergic reaction to Dermal Filler?

A very small percentage of people have a reaction to any aesthetic procedure, the most common is among persons who suffer from cold sores of the face. If you get cold sores it is important to visit our dentist/doctor to get a prescription for a medicine called Acyclovir to start taking this the day before you have dermal filler. You categorically must finish this course of antibiotics to avoid a cold sore outbreak.
